Tarvarius Moore is not projected to be worth a roster spot based on total fantasy points the rest of the season. His 8 projected fantasy points puts him at #210 behind Mackensie Alexander and ahead of Tony McRae. He has averaged 2.59 fantasy points in his past 16 games. Our projected per game average is virtually the same. His projected per game average is 2.5 fantasy points. His rank based on avg proj (#213) is worse than his rank based on total fantasy points. Tarvarius Moore is expected to improve on this season-to-date’s #228 fantasy position rank.

The 49ers lost just their second game of the season last Sunday in a battle against the Ravens in Baltimore, but two players still landed on Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week.

PFF awarded one San Francisco player on each side of the ball this past week. Right tackle Mike McGlinchey represented the offense, while safety Marcell Harris represented the defense.

McGlinchey was phenomenal in the trenches against a stout Ravens defense. At 6-foot-8, 310 pounds, the former first-round draft pick showed off his athleticism in the 49ers’ outside run game, helping prompt running back Raheem Mostert to a career day.

Mostert, who entered the season as more of a special teams star, rushed for 146 yards on 19 carries. He averaged 7.7 yards per carry, and scored a 40-yard touchdown.

McGlinchey earned an 88.4 run-blocking grade from PFF as the 49ers as a whole ran for 174 yards on 29 carries, good for an average of 6.0 yards per carry. The second-year pro had an 88.9 overall grade as he also kept QB Jimmy Garoppolo on his feet all game long.

While McGlinchey is a former top draft pick, Harris is a whole different story. Taken by the 49ers in the sixth round of the 2018 draft, Harris replaced an injured Jaquiski Tartt and made an immediate impact.

With Ravens QB Lamar Jackson racing down the field in the third quarter, Harris tackled the speedster, ripped the ball out of his hands and recovered the fumble. It was Jackson’s first recovered fumble of the year.

Harris ended the game with two solo tackles, one assist and the forced/recovered fumble. He earned a 91.0 PFF grade in the loss.

The 25-year-old who was promoted from the practice squad in October, now has six tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery this season.

BRADENTON, Fla. — For the second time in as many months, a member of the 49ers has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Month.

Linebacker Fred Warner took home the title for November after Nick Bosa had the honor for October. During the month, Warner tallied 44 total tackles, three sacks, four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits and two forced fumbles.

49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh believes altering the linebacker’s responsibilities has given Warner an opportunity to play with more speed.

“We’ve taken a lot off his plate so he can just go line up and play,” Saleh said Thursday. “Putting more of the onus on making sure that guys lineup and go play. We were playing some of those read-option teams, the Arizona teams, we’re asking him to make a lot of checks and see if he can get us in the perfect defense.

“While he’s busy trying to do that, he’s not able to focus on his job. Even though he was getting everyone lined up and everything was perfect, it’s just not fair for him. So, to take a little bit off his plate so he can go ahead and go play, I think that’s really been the difference.”

Saleh is not alone in praising Warner. Veteran cornerback Richard Sherman also has been impressed with the young linebacker’s work ethic and growth in his second season. The fact that Warner didn’t play inside until he was with the 49ers makes his accomplishments even more significant.

“The inside linebacker already has so much on his plate,” Sherman said. “Being able to take some of that off—there was one game I think he had six calls in one play. Where if this guy moves here, he has to readjust the line. He has to tell the DBs this, he has to tell this guy this and sometimes that just doesn’t allow him to play fast.

“He’s getting everybody else lined up to play fast but he can’t play fast. He has to think about all these calls, all these adjustments. Maybe you put a little more strain on the rest of the guys. You spread out the strain and it allows him to play fast and for us to be a better defense.”

Now in his second year, Warner sees things developing on the field more quickly. No matter the workload given to him by Saleh, the BYU product has been able to adjust.

“I think as the year has gone on, he has kind of started to realize what’s too much, what’s too little,” Warner said. “I agree completely. Ever since kind of the midway point of the season, I think he has lined it up for me to just go out and play fast.”

The 2019 college football season hasn’t been a pleasant one for Arkansas football — something which isn’t exactly new to those in Fayetteville these days. The Razorbacks are staring down what could very well be a second-consecutive two-win season after falling on the road vs. No. 1 LSU on Saturday, 56-20.

On Sunday night, roughly 24 hours removed from the blowout loss in Baton Rouge, Arkansas fans were likely rolling their eyes for yet another occasion — thanks to a former Razorback playing in the primetime NFL showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers.

During player intros, San Francisco rookie linebacker Dre Greenlaw — intentional or not — didn’t exactly ace the pronunciation of the school where he spent the past four seasons playing.

Your ears didn’t deceive you. That was an “Ar-Kansas,” straight from the man who recorded 321 tackles for the Razorbacks before being selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the NFL Draft this past April.

For now, it’s anybody’s guess as to whether or not there was more to the story. Did Greenlaw lose a bet? Did it have to do with the struggles on the field in Fayetteville? We might just never know, but a national audience heard this one loud and clear.

Arkansas (2-9), has not won an SEC game since defeating Ole Miss in October 2018. The Razorbacks fired head coach Chad Morris earlier this month after the Razorbacks endured a lopsided home loss to Western Kentucky.

UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIF. — A 12-year-old boy from Roanoke Rapids boy shared his dedication to helping children recover from trauma on national TV Friday.

Elijah Lee visited The Kelly Clarkson Show in California, where he told Clarkson, singer Patti LaBelle and a studio audience about his goal of creating warm, welcoming rooms in hospitals for children who have suffered abuse.

“After they literally see their parents dragged away in handcuffs, they immediately have to go to the hospital and wait in this very dull, grim hospital room,” Elijah said. “You all know that there is nothing fun about being in a hospital room.”

He wants to create pediatric safe rooms with light colors, toys and games, “where kids can actually enjoy themselves for a minute,” he said. “I want it to be a calming time because children do go through things, and it’s hard for children, too.”

Elijah Lee “I needed to act”: 11-year-old takes stand against child abuse
In 2018, Elijah organized the first Child Abuse Awareness March in Roanoke Rapids after learning that one of his peers had been abused.

Last month, his GoFundMe fundraiser to create a pediatric safe room at Halifax Regional Medical Center exceeded its $3,000 goal.

“The fact is that we’ve had young people go through abuse – we can’t even imagine the pain,” he said on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “Often times, they feel like it’s their fault when it’s not, and they need to have times they realize that you are a kid, you deserve to have fun, and you deserve to feel safe.”

WRAL News first met Elijah and learned of his advocacy in February. He said then that he wanted to empower other children to take action, too.

“I think that’s important because kids are told to be quiet all the time, figuratively and literally, and I think it’s time that kids start speaking up,” Elijah said at the time.

Elijah and his three siblings lost their father eight years ago to a heart attack. Their mother said that, even as a 4-year-old, Elijah tried his best to comfort her.

“He sat on my lap and said, ‘Mommy, don’t cry. Daddy’s in heaven, and that’s the best place to be in the world,’” she said.

On The Kelly Clarkson Show, Elijah said having a safe place to escape his grief could have helped him.

“If I would’ve had that type of room when I lost my father, I think it definitely would have made an impact on that experience for me,” he said.

After speaking with Elijah, Clarkson had a surprise for him: four tablets, a 40-inch TV and a $1,000 gift card to decorate the pediatric safe room.

The 49ers on Saturday downgraded rookie linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair to “out” for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The 22-year-old sustained a concussion in the 49ers’ 27-24 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. He progressed through the NFL concussion protocol to the point that he participated on a limited basis in practices Thursday and Friday.

Al-Shaair was listed as questionable when the 49ers disclosed their game status report on Friday afternoon. But the 49ers determined on Saturday that Al-Shaair would not be able to gain clearance to play in order to be available to play Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

With Al-Shaair listed as out, the 49ers now have six players listed as out or doubtful to play against the Cardinals.

In addition to Al-Shaair, left tackle Joe Staley (finger) and nose tackle D.J. Jones (groin) are definitely out. Tight end George Kittle (knee, ankle), running back Matt Breida (ankle) and kicker Robbie Gould (right quadriceps) are all doubtful.

Al-Shaair, a rookie from Florida Atlantic, has appeared in all nine games this season. He took over as the team’s starting strong-side linebacker after Dre Greenlaw moved from that position into a starting role due to Kwon Alexander’s season-ending pectoral injury.

[RELATED: Shanahan wants WRs visualizing dropping passes]

Al-Shaair is one of the team’s core special-teams players. He was injured on the opening kickoff of the second half on a hit from Nick Bellore, who played for the 49ers in 2015 and ’16.

The 49ers will enter Sunday’s game with just four active linebackers: Fred Warner, Greenlaw, Elijah Lee and Mark Nzeocha.

For a team that’s only lost one game in 10 tries, there seem to be worries abound regarding the 49ers’ injury situation just about every week. Thus far, it’s not been quite as bad as last year’s trial by torn muscles (though Ronald Blair III and Shawn Poindexter were lost to torn ACLs and Jerick McKinnon and Kentavius Street have lost their seasons to complications with ACL rehab), but there’s never a sense of ease in terms of the 49ers being healthy.

Final status reports
Below are the status reports for Sunday’s game. Both D.J. Jones (groin) and Raheem Mostert (knee) are “good to go,” according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Questionable: George Kittle (knee, ankle), Emmanuel Sanders (rib), Deebo Samuel (shoulder)

Doubtful: Robbie Gould (quadricep), Matt Breida (ankle sprain)

Out: Dee Ford (hamstring, quadricep), Joe Staley (finger)

What should you make of the status reports?

Expect Kittle, Sanders and Samuel to play. They’ve all indicated that’s their intention and all three practiced in non-contact jerseys, but wore pads on Friday. The only remaining name who could play is Gould, but there’s more on him below.

Dee Ford situation could see more of Armstead, Thomas at end
With Ford out for the week, the 49ers are thin at defensive end. Damontre Moore was a one-for-one replacement for Blair and will be the third end in the pecking order behind Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead. The return of D.J. Jones at nose tackle is crucial in two aspects. Not only has he been fantastic on the interior this season, but him being active allows Armstead to slot outside more often.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers would not make a move to add another defensive end or lineman, with the only end option being Jeremiah Valoaga on the team’s practice squad.

“No, I don’t see us making a roster move, too late right now,” Shanahan said. “We like what we got, we can mix guys up and get it done here until Dee Ford’s back.”

But should an injury hit one of Bosa, Armstead or Moore, it’s Solomon Thomas who would be the fourth defensive end in the pecking order. Thomas has moved back into the interior this season, and while his numbers aren’t outstanding (16 combined tackles, two sacks), he has looked improved in the limited snaps he’s taken.

Thomas told KNBR he doesn’t expect a drastic increase in snaps on the outside, but acknowledged he’d likely see an increase at end.

“It might be a little more depending with Dee out and having Damontre up,” Thomas said. “So yeah, I’ll probably get some more reps out there.”

C.J. Beathard, kick returner?
Last week, there was a potential situation where the 49ers would have less than 46 active players available, meaning C.J. Beathard could have theoretically been used on special teams. Shanahan said that if the 49ers did have just 45 available players, they would have Beathard active for special teams duties.

In fact, Beathard was so effective in special teams with the scout team, that he earned scout team special teams player of the week. Three players each week are given a personalized jerseys (one player in each phase of the game) for outstanding practice performance.

“He gave us real good looks out there,” Shanahan said. “So, CJ loves the physicality of this game and he can run too.”

Shanahan praised Beathard for his willingness to be physical and his mindset, saying “he’s got the attitude to do it,” but didn’t say what Beathard’s duties were. I asked Shanahan in what capacity Beathard would actually be used on special teams; his answer provided a hilarious mental image.

“Punt returner, kick returner, backup kicker,” Shanahan said, jokingly. “It probably wouldn’t be a huge one. But we would use him if he was up.”

The NFL draft is far from a sure thing. Even players taken in the first round can flame out or fail to develop into reliable starters—and that’s if they even get a reasonable opportunity to flourish.

Whether due to poor schematic fit, under-utilization or a poor supporting cast, some players simply haven gotten the chance to reach their full potential. These are the players we’ll be examining here.

We’ll take a look at some recent first-round picks—with three or fewer years of NFL experience—who have flashed talent either as a pro or coming into the NFL but have yet to be unleashed. What’s been holding them back and what can be done to realize their on-field potential? Let’s take a look.

On the latest episode of The Lefkoe Show, Packers legends Greg Jennings stops by the podcast to finally put to bed the argument that has concerned football fans for years: Is his Madden Youtube clip the most legendary video on the internet? Well, watch his impression of the clip, and you’ll agree that the answer is a resounding yes. Also, he opens up about his very public criticism (but massive admiration) for Aaron Rodgers, his quarterback for so many successful seasons. Keep tuning in all year long for more fun roundtable guests and exciting football chat!
